1. Introduction of the teaching material
The main topic of this unit is “environmental protection, including wild animal protection , preventing and getting rid of pollution”. This lesson is the first period . It plays an important role in this unit because it is the basis of the later periods. By studying this period, students can learn more about some animals which are becoming endangered and the reasons for that and realize it is important and necessary to protect them. They can also learn something about pollution. Such topic is related to our daily life, so it is helpful to raise students’ learning interest, and it will be also useful to improve their speaking ability. At the same time, we should get the students to understand some important words and phrases to comprehend the passage better.
